I copied a link to an article to save it for later, but now the link isn't working. Why?

Answer

Unfortunately, when trying to save your article for later, you can’t copy the link to it from the URL address bar because this link will time out, causing you to lose access to the article.

Instead, look to see if a permalink, stable URL, or record URL is provided on the article or through the database's email or share features. These 'permanent' links reflect the library's subscription, do not time out, and will allow you to keep accessing the article for as long as you need to and are the best to copy and use. It can also be helpful to make a note of the title of the article, which can help you search and find it again.

Each database labels and places this link in a different area, but this video about permalinks shows examples of where to find them in some of our most popular databases.
